My students definitely like to move a lot and have a great amount of energy! Sometimes it's hard to have students sit at their desks without some kind of movement going on. In our classroom, the students definitely enjoy "brain breaks," in which students get the opportunity to move around and get their "wiggles" out so they can focus on the content at hand. My students love it when I incorporate music as well. This all came into play when choosing the PE equipment.
Music is the universal language all my students love! In the classroom, I incorporate music in just about everything---lessons, transitions, brain breaks, and more. Because we have PE on the yard, it is hard to incorporate music during our fitness time. This is why I would really enjoy having a portable speaker that is loud enough to use on the yard regardless of traffic or any other noise that can be heard down a busy street. I also got many selections of music that students know and love, which engages students and makes moving fun!
In addition to that, I got standard PE equipment that is hard to find in a large school environment. I will incorporate classic P.E games with music to make P.E something my students will look forward to every day!
I have also included games that students can work together in groups to learn how to play as a team! It is important to build a classroom culture and positive environment during team playing activities because it strengthens life skills students will need and also helps them in school and outside.
Overall, the main objective we have come up with together is to make physical health and education fun, and we will do so through music!
