When you are at home working on a project, drafting an e-mail, or writing a paper, where do you go? Do you choose a desk, the couch, the floor, or somewhere completely different? The answer isn't the same for each person. In other environments, we choose different locations to help us be productive. Students should have the same opportunity at school. The power of student choice will help my students take charge of their learning and discover what type of seating helps them learn best. My students need flexible seating choices to increase student engagement, enhance our classroom environment, and provide more opportunities for collaboration. I want to have a variety of seating choices for my students to choose from each day. Stools, cushions, pillows, lap desks, and yoga balls are some of the options I would like my students to have.
