Over 500 students each year are mastering basic survival skills in my Outdoor Survival Classes. Students are learning to build fires, construct shelters, purify water, tie knots, administer first aid, navigate with a compass, and use maps. These skills may someday save my students' lives!
I teach an elective course at Ridgy Middle School in southeast Idaho. We are a rural school district in a small farming community. My students participate in many outdoor activities right here in our own backyard--hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, camping, boating, and horseback riding.
The enthusiasm the students bring to the classroom is contagious. I love teaching them!
