Hello! I teach 5th grade at a small, loving, public school in Tacoma, WA. We are in a low socio-economic area, where at least 95% of our students receive free or reduced meals. Many of our students come from troubled homes. I just found out last year that our neighborhood zone receives the most 911 calls in Tacoma, which is a large city! I also found out that police collect third grade reading data annually to make future crime predictions. With that being said, I wouldn't want to teach anywhere else! The staff is caring and passionate about educating our students and care for their emotional needs. This coming year will be my third year at this school, and my third year teaching 5th grade as well! Having taught a few different grades now, I have found that for me, 5th grade is the best!
