My classroom population is very racially diverse. Half of my students are ELLs and Spanish is their first language. It is a charter school with very limited funding. Even though we have a high low socio economic population it is not enough to get title one funding. Most of our students do not enter first grade reading on a first grade level. Half of the students in my class do not have reading materials at home, and struggling with their reading.
