This is my sixth year working at ICNL. This year I am in a co-teach model and will have 40 fifth grade students. A majority of our students struggle socially and/or academically and are unable to afford supplies to help them become successful learners. It is our expectation this school year that every student has what they need throughout the entire school year.
My co-teacher and I painted a dry erase wall in our classroom(with our principal's permission) with the vision of having a daily question students would need to respond to that will help improve academics, social skills, and character. In order for this to be successful, we will need Expo Markers for each individual student and ensure we have replacements when they get lost.
We would love to ensure that our students have pencils on a daily basis.
The chairs will be for our small group tables. We are planning on having students who will be able to sit on the teachers' chair as an incentive.
Our students will each have laptops and will receive headphones; however, when they get lost, stolen, or break they are required to purchase their own. From my experience last year, I ended up buying most of my students headphones for a second round.
Mrs. A and myself are planning a lot of cooperative group activities; therefore, the bright paper will come in handy for projects.
