It was my first day, of my first teaching job at a brand new school and I walk into a bare classroom full of boxes. I was instantly overwhelmed. As I began going through the boxes, I found teaching materials, textbooks for my students, and very few things leftover from previous years. I brought many posters and borders to decorate my class and the small collection of books I had to provide for my class.
Now we are a semester and almost a full third quarter down and I still want to provide as much as I can for my students.
I am trying to give my students choices of where to sit, and the option to decide what is a "just right" spot for them while they do their work. Choice is important at a young age because it will help them as they are older and are making important decisions for themselves.
I hope that by providing my students with as many books possible that they will learn to love reading as much as I do.
