My students need Rhino skin balls, basketballs, and soccer balls to throw, kick, jump and dodge their way to fun and fitness! The balls will be used to play Crossfire, Dodgeball, Kickball, Basketball, Soccer, Knockout, 4-Square, and Volleyball. The games that are taught promote health, gross motor development, following game rules, teamwork, cheering on friends, and conflict resolution! There is no greater educational outcome than being able to work with teammates to complete a project or goal with success, and our P.E. units accomplish that and more!
We would be so appreciative of high quality sports equipment!
All fifth grade students are required to run a mile for time as part of the California Physical Fitness testing program. My students train for the mile-run beginning in September. There is no better companion to fitness than music for children! I would LOVE to enhance our P.E. program by using a portable speaker to play music while my students run...imagine "Eye of the Tiger" blasting as they high five each other as they finish the fourth lap! In addition, the portable speaker would allow me to take our line dancing and folk dancing units out to the playground so that we would have more space as we "boogie!"
My students will squeal with delight if our project gets funded! They will see that the "Work Hard, Play Hard" motto leads to satisfying and productive lives for all of us!
