The school day can get long for my students' 6/7 year old bodies that need lots of movement and exercise. I am requesting a set of wobbly chairs to help my students keep their bodies in motion.
By allowing their bodies to move in safe and non-disruptive ways, my hope is this set of chairs will help my students focus their minds on the task at hand for a longer time.
The set of six chairs will be used in a few ways. One, the most active students will sit on them during whole group instruction. This will allow them to move with minimal distractions. Two, students will be able to take turns using them for seat work. This will allow them to remain seated and maintain focus on tasks for a longer time. Third, the stools will be an option for students to sit on during workshop/center times giving the students an additional seating choice to help them find the best seat for the given work.
