My students took a virtual tour of a classroom and noticed that the students were sitting on chair balls. They were so excited and inquired about how they too could have access to this innovation. They complain regularly at recess about the lack of physical activity materials (i.e. balls). They actually stated that they need to get more regular exercise. This "kid-inspired" project will make a tremendous difference in the lives of my students. They have a very long day at our school (7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), and the neighborhoods are unsafe, and they are not conducive to physical activity opportunities. This has to be provided at our school prior to their departure. A number of my students are obese as well. This "kid-inspired" project will greatly benefit all 26 students in my class, and they will be able to inspire their families to get moving and engage in more physical activity to promote healthier living.
