Reading is boring? Not a chance! 3rd grade is an important and challenging year for students in reading.
More than mastering strategies or acing assessments, I want my students to LOVE reading. I'm requesting subscriptions to StoryWorks and TIME for Kids and copies of Literary Passages: Close Reading: Grade 3: 20 Reading Selections With Text-Marking Exercises, and Close Reading with Paired Texts. Student will be able to read without frustration texts at a level that challenges them. My students will be able to flip through magazines that cover topics that interest them.
My students will be able to choose Balance Balls and Wobble Cushions that can help them focus best. The more they're engaged, the more reading they will want to do in the future.
I want my students to be lifelong learners. Reading doesn't just stop once you leave the classroom.
