The materials ordered are used as "math games" in my classroom. These games make a difference in the learning of my students. They teach problem solving skills and provide an environment where students learn to stay in the struggle.
Playing these types of games encourages strategic mathematical thinking as students find different strategies for solving problems. I started using games like these in my classroom two years ago for students to use during our math work time when they have completed their whole class, partner and individual work. This tends to be my students most favorite time of the day. In fact these games are chosen by students to be played at any free time available, including an indoor recess on a rainy day.
