I am a 5th grade teacher. I have 32 eager-to-learn students this year and 8 of them are English Language Learners. We are a low-income, title one school. The majority of our school population is Hispanic,therefore we have many parents who are non-English speakers which is a major obstacle for teachers who do not speak their language. Lastly, we do mainstream Special Education students for math and reading. We like to use the "full-inclusion" method by making the Special Ed students feel as though they are just another part of a class and not separated out.
