The students in this classroom have a variety of learning and language difficulties. They thrive when using a computer or an I-pad to bring their learning to life. It is very motivating to them.
The I-pad can be programmed with specific apps that are appropriate to the specific needs of the individual students to use throughout the day. There are academic, language and social apps that can be programmed to the student's needs at the moment. The individual skills that need to be reinforced can be targeted through the use of the i-pad.
I have found that the one I-pad that is provided for the class is not enough for the 8 students and that having four more would enable the class to use them more readily. The students will still have to work on waiting their turn and sharing, but the student's will be able to have access more often. The i-pads could be built in the structure of the day for the entire room.
