Having cd players and headphones to listen to audio books will help my students develop their academic language. They will be able to listen in small groups, to books that interest them, even if on a higher level. Having these materials will give them access to quality literature, that otherwise may not have been accessible to them.
Having an entire class set will allow every student access to quality literature. Currently, the students have to listen to audio books on a low volume due to the lack of headphones. This is a distraction to the students, having to try to concentrate while 4 audio books are being played out loud at once.
