Makerspaces fit perfectly into the media center setting because both facilitate constructing knowledge through access of information. The materials for Makerspace stations, such as LEGOS, Makey Makey kits, baseplates, and a mobile organizer for storage, will allow students to construct knowledge across and outside of disciplines using hands-on authentic learning to create a variety of projects they design and implement. Makerspaces provide access to physical resources typically regarded as materials for crafting, engineering, design, robotics, or media. They encourage blending these specialties in the service of learning any academic or traditionally non-academic disciplines. Most school libraries and Makerspaces are equally as supportive of non-curricular, student-driven, independent explorations. Students would not have access to these materials without this project.
