My students are curious, creative, and enthusiastic learners who love our school and community. Our school is a Title 1 school that serves an economically struggling student population. More than 95% of our students receive free or reduced lunch, and many of our families do not have a computer or access to the internet before our school started providing them with Chromebooks and hotspots. With the Chromebooks and internet hotspots in hand, our students are ready for distance learning. However, we've encountered another hurdle.
Due to family circumstances, many of our kids do not have a quiet space in their homes to attend online class meetings and to work on their blended learning programs. Many students have siblings attending online classes simultaneously. Just imagine having multiples Zoom meetings going in one room! To ensure that my students have their basic need for education met, I would like to provide all of my students with high-quality headsets with mics. This would ensure that my students would have an opportunity to fulfill their basic education needs.
As for the bookmarks, Orbeez, and stamps, I would like to send my students frequent encouragement cards, letters, and prizes for their continued participation in distance learning.
