The basic classroom supplies asked for are a must in any successful classroom. Students need pencils every single day in every single subject. We go through pencils like crazy, I have asked for several hundred pencils so that my students never are in need for a pencil to complete any assignment in class. Its heartbreaking when a student says "My Mom doesn't have money to buy me a pencil." With 25 students we go through pencils a lot.
Other supplies asked for are basics, the binders will be used for their reading curriculum. Since my students are low in reading I am implementing a separate reading curriculum for them to catch them up to a first grade reading level and each student will use a binder to store their materials that I will print for them. I will also need paper to print all of the materials needed for that curriculum. Our school does not provide us with copy paper.
One of the interventions in the classroom is a reading website. Students in need of special interventions will log onto the site and use it to help them grow as a reader. These Chromebooks/small laptops will allow for a small group of students to work on reading/math at the same time. In our world today technology is so important, Chromebooks/small laptops asked for will help with so much such as: center work, being able to have the child hear someone read to them, other then me, have access to hundreds of books, have access to our math curriculum online, begin them with the foundation of researching things on the internet.
Dry erase markers are used in center activities for the children, they use either page protectors or white boards to write in all subject areas.
