I am striving to create a love for reading in 3rd grade and believe a cozy and well-organized classroom library can nourish that development.
My students would greatly benefit from a comfortable reading area. The bean bags, comfy pillows, and floor seats will help create an incentive and excitement for reading. This will increase their vocabulary and fluency and instill in them a love of reading. I currently have 5 non-readers in 3rd grade, and more than half of my class is entering 3rd grade reading well below grade level. Not to mention, if students do not learn to read fluently by 3rd grade, their chances of success in school are much more slim. According to many studies, how well a child reads in 3rd grade could determine his or her success in high school. That is why I would like to give my students, with your help, a greater chance at success in their educational career.
Each student in the classroom will benefit from our library daily during structured visits in literacy centers. Your donation will have a huge impact on student learning for years to come!
I am always looking for ways to enhance my students’ educational experiences and to close the achievement gap between my low-income students and other students. Learning to read is the first step in achieving this goal.
