My students LOVE to read. It was the first activity I found that they truly enjoy and lose themselves in. I discovered this in our first week of school as I was scrambling to piece together a library. Our school librarian was nice enough to let us come in during a time we weren't scheduled for in order to get books into their hands.
I frequently find myself asking students to stop reading which is amazing. Being a first-year teacher, my library has been Frankensteined together from generous donations and "free book" piles. I would like to provide my students with a larger selection that caters to what they are truly interested in and not just what I can find.
Having these books will undoubtedly benefit my students' reading abilities as well as comprehension skills.
