One area that my students struggle with are daily functional skills. The every day task of opening a locker with a combination lock doesn't appear to be a challenging task to typical developing students. However, my students struggle with this task daily. Due to the nature of their various disabilities and lack of fine motor control, the students would benefit from a lock and key. Allowing the students to have a lock and key would build their self-confidence as they would not have to ask for assistance with opening their locks.
Your generous donation to our project will improve the independence in the students I teach by building their self-esteem and confidence. This will change the students' lives for the better because it will promote a sense of self-worth and make lockers accessible to the students.
