Students these days are all about doing things with their hands, instead of just writing down questions and answers. My students learn better with their hands. They also learn better when they are having fun, instead of sitting at their desk completing yet another worksheet. Sure, we need to make sure students know how to write, but why can't we do that in a fun way?
My students work in collaborative centers a lot during the day. They have learned the value of teamwork and effort through working together to play educational board games. However, since our district is so small and our town is subject to poverty, the district just doesn't have the money to add more exciting learning materials to the classrooms. I believe students who are having fun learn more.
