I am supporting Kindergarten and 1st grade students in a self-contained Special Education classroom. My students are heavily impacted in areas of adaptive skills, behavior, and communication, and motor skills, as well as academic areas.
This will be my first year with this age group and I am very excited for this new challenge. I hope to learn and grow in this new position and develop skills to help students in their early learning development.
I believe that Special Education is a service that should support connection with, and not block access to, the general educational curriculum and environment. My goal is to "graduate" my students to less-restrictive models of service.
I am excited to help students explore multiple modalities of learning and expression, so that they can discover who they are as scholars and to advocate for their needs and interests as they grow and progress through school.
