I would like to provide students with more hands on learning experiences in science using the STEM kits. This will make the science concepts more engaging and concrete which in turn will make the textbook more accessible for my struggling readers. In addition, science is meant to be hands on, and more hands on explorations will be sure to spark curiosity and motivate students to put forth more effort when faced with challenging science concepts.
I want to use these science kits to foster an environment full of junior scientists who will be prepared for a 21st century career in the field of science. Unfortunately, because of budget restraints and lack of materials, my students haven't developed a strong elementary science background. These kits will help me lessen the gap and hopefully inspire students to pursue a career in the field of science.
