As a first year teacher there are many supplies I am looking forward to collecting that I will be able to keep for most of my years as a teacher! These include the scissors and glue sticks that are sure to be used almost everyday while my students complete creative and academic projects to strengthen their learning. My student will also benefit from having smaller dry-erase markers when practicing their learning of new words (especially those tricky words!) on their dry-erase boards. I am also hoping for a good pencil sharpener to follow me throughout the years as another necessary item for teachers.
Calendar time is one of my students favorite activities to do during the day, and it is so important that students learn the skills that come with it. The calendar chosen is clear and includes days of the week, the year, months, weather and more! The additional pocket chart allows students to relate days in school and number sense! Having a schedule in the classroom appeals to all types of students and keeps learning flowing and with purpose. These may seem unimportant in contrast to the other supplies needed for classrooms, but I cannot express how vital they truly are!
