We will be exploring revolutionary leaders from the early colonists to our more contemporary leaders-and Malcolm X was a student request! Malcolm's narrative is very inspiring and will be an excellent Segway into my Black Lives Matter unit. Reading and learning are but a few elements that changed his life & I believe will change my students lives too! Reading diverse narratives is one goal I have for my students this year. Expanding their knowledge base as to how many diverse ethnicities created this great land will allow for them to take pride in our diverse nation and perhaps appreciate all cultures here in America.
