Our intermediate book club has decided our next book will be "Bud, Not Buddy", by Christopher Paul Curtis. The book club will read the book in 3-4 different sections.
Each Friday, the students get their lunch from the cafeteria and instead of eating at their lunch table, they bring their lunch trays to my classroom, where we discuss the section of the book we have read that week. I usually start out as the discussion leader, but as the weeks go on, more and more students begin to take over that leadership role. The students enjoy not only discussing a book that is not an assignment, but getting to work with a variety of different students in various grade levels.
