The physical set-up of a classroom is important because it's the first thing a student sees when they walk in. Students spend much of their day in the classroom, which should feel warm and comfortable. Rooms that do this will improve student morale and make students happier to be there. Our learning environment will support positive interactions and empower students in the process.
The Classic Birch 20-Cubby Storage Unit with the Clear-View Bins - Set of 20 will be used to organize all of the math and science manipulatives used to teach the math and science standards for 3rd grade. Some examples include clear view bins filled with counters, dice, unifix cubes, base-ten blocks, legos, engineering tools to build and create as well as art supplies needed to expand on their thoughts and ideas. The Clear-View Bins will make items easily seen and accessible for students.
The Flex-Space Mobile Storage Bin Center for 24 Students with the Flex-Space Student Storage Bins - Set of 24, will be used to create an organized reading corner for literacy instruction. Books will be organized into the storage bins by reading level, author, genre or current topics. Students will feel comfortable in their reading nook area and will be able to find a book of interest independently and efficiently.
Factors such as unorganized bookshelves, random desk patterns, and excess clutter can all make for unsuccessful learning experiences. A messy, (physically) unorganized classroom also creates a sense of instability. Easily accessible materials and supplies can eliminate delays, disruptions, and confusion as students prepare for engaging, learning activities.
These items will help to create a classroom that will be a positive learning environment that each student loves to come into every day!
