Headphones are an absolute necessity when trying to help 20 kindergarteners each listen to a book on tape. Each student has different interests and wants to listen to a different author on a daily basis. The use of headphones will help students be able to listen to stories without interfering with other students learning.
We also need diverse books that show characters of all races and economic backgrounds. These books will be of different reading levels so that every child has several books that interest them. We teach at a bilingual school meaning that all students are learning English and Spanish. These students will be fully bilingual by the time they graduate.
