Many of my students do not have a computer or printer at home. A classroom printer will allow students to print out essays and research papers and present them to me proudly. When students are proud of their work, they are motivated to work even harder for the next assignment.
When students are busy making art, they forget that they are also learning! We are using Interactive Notebooks to learn grammar skills that will be used for life. The notebooks require colored pencils, markers and glue. Students color code, cut, fold and affix items into the notebook to learn grammar concepts and skills, then use the notebook for reference for years to come.
A heavy duty three hole punch will allow students to quickly punch holes in handouts for safe-keeping in their binders. And we use self-stick easel pads for anchor charts and class collaboration projects.
Time is of the essence while we are learning. Both my students and I need a timer to help us stay on track during the time we are given for learning.
