Our scholars are a diverse, vivacious bunch. They come from various neighborhoods throughout San Francisco to learn in our small school community in the Excelsior. Ninety-nine percent of our scholars are students of color and nearly seventy-five percent of them are English-Language learners. All of them are amazing.
My classroom is a space for students to explore their connection with language, through reading, writing, and discussions. It's a space for students to feel welcomed and comfortable being uncomfortable. A space for students to know they don't have all the answers and to have that feeling excite them rather than upset them.
