I use a lot of printer ink in my classroom because I am constantly printing visual daily schedules for each student, communication boards for nonverbal students, calm down strips for my aggressive students, and much much more to meet the individualized needs of each student. The sensory materials, I have chosen for my project, will help my students with a disability. The peanut exercise balls, jelly beads, and the vibrating pillows will provide the sensory stimulation my students need to reduce behavioral issues and will help them stay focused. The easel is another great tool to have in my classroom because my students can paint, draw, color and expand their creativity, while increasing their fine and gross motor skills. Being able to paint and explore their creativity in the classroom will help make school and learning more enjoyable.
My students are our future and I want to teach them how to behave in our society and become an active citizen in the world outside the classroom. These sensory stimulating materials will help my students by giving them an alternative and be able to channel their over stimulated behaviors to something positive.
