Students will use the kitchen tools to run their own coffee shop. They will greet customers, take orders, and then prepare the coffee independently. They will also offer smoothies, bagels, and pastries. With assistance from teachers and staff, they will use the toaster oven to toast bagels and warm baked goods. They will build reading comprehension skills from reading recipes. Students will also deliver the coffee around the school building, giving them the opportunity to build social skills through interacting with staff members. This experience will give them the confidence and skill sets necessary to obtain employment in the future.
