When learning a second or third language, access to your native tongue is crucial. Students in their first or second year of learning English need bi-lingual dictionaries to help improve their writing and reading skills. As the majority of my students are refugees, the cost of these dictionaries is often too high for families struggling to rebuild their lives.
Access to bi-lingual dictionaries will give the students confidence to express themselves more fully in English. Given the multitude of languages spoken in my classroom I need dictionaries in many different languages available. The languages I've chosen represent a majority of the languages spoken by my students. They will use the dictionaries to assist them in becoming fluent English speakers .
