In Readers Workshop students are expected to read 20-40 minutes a day. Access to interesting books of various reading levels is a must in keeping adolescents engaged in reading for that long of a time. My dream is for students to struggle to make a book choice not because there is not anything they want to read, but because there are so many books they want to try. My goal as a teacher is to make kids better readers, and I am able to do that when I can provide students with great books.
My classroom library is the most important part of my room.
It is where students come together to read and discuss books and develop a love of reading. Students who excel at reading become more successful in life. Contributing to my classroom library will put my students on the path to success.
