This project will enable students to build the foundation for academic, vocational, and real-world success by focusing on tracking the growth of their individual reading skills. Students who struggle to read have increased difficulty in every other content area. This project would allow BCMS teachers to more effectively address students' individual needs based on their own instructional reading level and to help struggling readers in an intentional success-driven manner. In order to track their own individual progress, students will keep Data Notebooks, using the binders and sheet protectors, which will show them periodically their own gains and struggles. This will give them a visual representation of where they started, keeping them motivated to continue to work hard toward growth.
