My students would greatly benefit from a laptop computer from which they could present the keynote lessons they create. We study a myriad of topics in our U.S. history class and my students are so eager to learn - and enthusiastic about sharing the knowledge they glean.
With a laptop connected to an LCD projector, my young scholars could teach their fellow students about historical events and people. Their presentations would not only demonstrate mastery of content knowledge, but they would also require the presenter to incorporate important common core skills such as analyzation, comparing and contrasting, evaluation, interpretation, justification and summarization. Equipped with a laptop, my “guest speakers” would also have an opportunity to practice public speaking that properly integrates academic language.
