"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." - Ignacio Estrada
My students are digital natives who constantly blow me away with their digital creativity. Their engagement levels are blown through the roof as soon as I add technology into our lessons. These two iPads will be used for endless possibilities in all subject matter. I will use these iPads to enhance our grammar lessons. We recently finished up a "Part of Speech Campaign" where students developed, rehearsed, and recorded their own campaign videos on which of the three parts of speech we have been studying is the best. All 32 students then shared the one iPad we currently have in our classroom. Adding two more iPads will have a huge impact on the amount of time it takes us to create extension projects such as these, as well as the time we will have for students to then explore and improve video editing skills.
Additionally, these two iPads will be used during my small group-leveled reading time. Out of the 32 students in my class, I have an extremely wide range of reading abilities. We currently have a program called Science A-Z that creates wonderfully engaging electronic reading to go along with our science units. Having these iPads will allow me to set up centers so students can use the iPads and the leveled readers to learn at their own ability levels and to grow and evolve at their pace.
Last but not least, STEM and math will be brought to life! Students can collaborate through real time to research and record their findings. These iPads will change the educational experience tremendously for 32 students for years to come.
