I have been teaching for eight years but am now teaching second grade for the first time. Because I transferred down from a higher grade, my classroom library is in need of more lower-leveled texts for the students. The number of books I collected over the summer from yard sales and other donations is a start, but it is not an ideal amount. Students need to be surrounded by a variety of rich, on-level texts.
Your generous donation will help my classroom library grow. The students will benefit from a wider variety of books to choose from at their individual reading levels. I have chosen many different types of books, such as books in a series, non-fiction books, beginner chapter books, and picture books. Offering high-interest books to my readers will get them excited about reading and will help them look forward to books that they can choose from in our classroom.
It is my hope that all of my students will find books that they can connect with this school year. By adding to our classroom library, a wider variety of books will be available to help make this happen. Students become better readers by reading, and they read more often with books that interest them.
I'm looking forward to stocking our classroom library full of new, second grade books. Thank you for your consideration!
