My students' vision is to choose what they sit on in the classroom to create an environment that allows them to have movement and activity while completing their tasks for the day. Having the children sit on an Hokki stool, stability ball or cushion during class instead of a hard classroom chair will hopefully allow students to become or remain calm, focus longer, concentrate more, improve handwriting, show a better understanding of material, and develop a better sense of organization. This will also allow children to feel empowered by their choice of seat and promote confidence where they might not have had it before.
The students will use the Hokki stools, stability cushions and balls to allow engagement in the lessons provided in class while having more on-task in-seat positive behavior and less off-task out-of-seat negative behavior. The student will be able to sit, bounce, or roll slightly while learning thus allowing him/her to focus more on the academic curriculum.
