Reading comprehension will be much easier for the students when they have more chances to practice reading. That's why we really need more reading materials with which to practice. The Scholastic magazines and Time for Kids will be used in the classroom and at home to practice for reading, math, and writing. First, the students will read the magazines and relate the themes to those they are learning in their reading curriculum. Second, they will use the magazines to discuss the themes with their partners in class. Then, they will bring the magazines home to read with their family. The magazines will be used as resources in class for the students to read during independent work time.
These magazines are crucial to the students' learning. In addition to motivating the students to become life-long readers and writers, they also provide the chance for the students to read about and discuss current, real world topics.
