I am requesting a bubble lamp (with a backup), the bracket attachment, tactile sensory learning board, and raindrop lights to hang from the ceiling in my classroom to help enhance the Sensory Room at my school.
Last year, I created the room as many of our students (specifically Autistic and disabled) needed a place to decompress, take a work break, and stimulate their senses. Over the year, I did what I could to fill the room with stimulating toys and sights. Our first bubble lamp broke, and the tent collapsed. With the consistent wear and tear on items, I feel the Sensory Room needs an update of products. Unfortunately, everything has a price and we are limited in what we can buy in a public school setting.
I hope that this project is funded by those who understand how important this room is to our neediest students. These children now have a place to visit to calm themselves down, take a break from working, or just genuinely enjoy being in there. I cannot express how much impact it has on our school. Students are highly reinforced by it. Behaviors, tantrums, and negative behaviors have decreased since the introduction of the Sensory Room. I am trying to vamp it up into the look it deserves.
