Currently, students have access to textbooks and technology that enrich their learning and prepare them for upcoming state assessments and the transition to high school. However, there is a marked lack of the love of reading and the way in which reading can expand one's mind and experiences.
Through the exploration of these novels, students in my class will truly learn to love reading and look forward to interacting with their characters. Once the love of reading is established, becoming a life-long learner soon follows. I want my students to become adults who can explore ideas and think for themselves, a privilege that comes with education and exploration of literature.
