Having board games in my class will allow my students to have the opportunity to not only work on social skills but on team work as well. This is such an important life skill to have and learn.
My goal is to have something fun that they students can look forward to on Fun Fridays! There are many positive benefits from game playing. Sharing laughter and fun can promote empathy, compassion and trust with one another. It also helps them practice essential cognitive skills, like problem solving. Board games is also a great way to help the brain retain and build cognitive associations. It also greatly improves their language skills as well. I have seen how games can bring out wonderful teaching opportunities for me. I know the games that I have requested for my class would really help!
