Fifth grade scientists will have the opportunity to predict and explore how science works. Specifically, we will be looking at the forces that have built up the earth's surfaces.
Students will use balance scales to conduct science experiments in small group settings to utilize the scientific process. We will have a hands on lesson on weathering and erosion so need sediments (gravel) to weigh and measure. Powerful forces of weathering include wind, water, temperature, chemical changes and living organisms. These science experiments will help students visual and explore these powerful forces.
In addition, we will use play dough and modeling clay to identify and design different simulations with landforms and weathering forces.
