Technology and reading are two things that occur in the classroom daily. My students also love using the projector that is displayed on our interactive board. Unfortunately, none of my students have their own type of technology. Many of my students don't get the chance to use technology independently at school or at home, so giving them more opportunities at school would be ideal!
My students love to read, share their reading with others, and be read to. We have such amazing conversations when we read together during our shared reading time. Without a projector, many students have a difficult time seeing the text that we are reading and are not able to read with me or even participate in discussion due to lack of access to the material.
By funding this project you will allow me to re-engage students and better support their needs. Many of my students are just beginning to become more fluent readers, but still have difficulty with written and even oral language. Being able to see and hear the words during a close reading activity will allow these students as well as their peers, to have a better grasp of the content and it will also support their language and literacy development. Using the tablets during centers to access specific academic and language development programs will not only support their learning but make it more interactive and fun!
