Exercise balls, saucer chairs, and lap desks will allow my students to take ownership of where they sit. Gone are the days of sitting at desks in rows in the classroom. Students will be able to exercise their right to choose what the best way for them to sit and learn is. Wall Dots provide different surfaces for writing. Students that choose to stand will be able to show their work on the dry erase Wall Dots that are affixed to the wall.
With flexible seating, I can differentiate the seating in my classroom to serve the needs of all of my students. My high energy, on-the-move students can sit and move around on the exercise balls. The kids that need it to be quiet can lie on the corner carpet with lap desks. My students with busy minds can listen to calming music at the listening center while they work. These seating choices give my students the option to sit/lay down/stand where they will learn best.
