These materials will allow the classroom to have flexible seating which will allow students to choose a seat where they will be the most comfortable and productive. Students will be able to sit lower on the floor with the balance disks. A couple of students can sit in the pop-up tent to collaborate on a project. Students can sit on the stability balls instead of chairs at their desks which will teach them more balance and allow them to move more at their seat. A group of students could take the picnic table mat wherever they want in the classroom to work, even the hallway. Bumple balls can be placed in the storage crates to create a stability ball-like seat. Flexible seating allows for versatile classroom environment so that students are not stuck in one spot; they can move around as they need.
The flexible seating environment mirrors the growing 21st century workplace model where employees have a variety of seating options to choose from.
It teaches students ownership and responsibility. Students understand that if they are not productive in a certain seat, they will be moved. Since students want to be able to choose where they sit, they are motivated to be productive and respectfully collaborate with their peers.
