All of our students want to learn to play the drums at least once in their lives. My classes can only have a few playing the drums at a time right now because I don't have enough drums for everyone. Drumming helps them with the basic idea of steady beat in the songs and it also helps to build the self-esteem that they need. The younger kids can practice basic care and drumming in an exciting way. The older kids can work up to creating beats for a song and drum line style music. Seeing them take pride and ownership in their learning is what I strive for in my classroom. They will be able to do team and independent work to build musicianship, creativity, socialization, problem solving, and inventing.
