My school is very unusual. We are a large school, located in a rural setting. My students come from all backgrounds. Wealthy, middle class, poor. As with any school, the jocks are celebrated and the sports are highlighted and pampered upon. Interestingly enough, we have a HUGE population of artistic kids who are just as amazing and have a chance to go out into the world and make a difference through their art. Just as an athletic student would. Many people attend those football games, the basketball, wrestling and volleyball matches. The community is very involved and proud of our student athletes. My goal, for the last 5 years, has been to try and promote our visual artist so that they too have a chance to show their talents to the community and the school population.
